No
One Is a Stranger Here.
Starting as a response to the hardships facing settlers
moving West during the California Gold Rush days, Travelers Aid established
the tradition that "No one is a stranger here."
|
|
The Volunteer,
whether at a bus depot, in a train station, or at the airport, has
continued to help locate a lost friend, to assist the confused,
and to welcome all who need help while away from home. Volunteers
provide access to agency social workers, airport information, directional
services, touring, transportation and lodging information, and language
interpretation. Trained to be information experts, our Volunteers
welcome people to Los Angeles and add a personal touch.

"I
arrived at LAX and had an incomplete address of my boyfriend in
L.A.. I went to Travelers Aid and two volunteers helped me. The
volunteers made phone calls and put a lot of energy into finding
my boyfriend, and they did it! I am very thankful to them for
their efficiency and kindness. Travelers Aid volunteers are great!"

"I
am writing to tell you about a new knight in shining armor in
my life. I landed in Los Angeles late Friday night, July 13th,
and truly became a damsel in distress. I was privileged to find
Arthur in the United Airlines terminal. This amazing man spent
a substantial amount of time in my behalf and I am very grateful.
He was thoughtful, warm, well informed, efficient, very knowledgeable,
and, above all, patient. He turned what could have been a very
traumatic experience into a comfortable and relaxed event. Thank
you for your service, but most especially thank you for wonderful
people like Arthur."
