In Memoriam
William D. Meyer
(Hollywood)—Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles mourns the passing of its Treasurer and past President William D. Meyer, who died shortly after the Thanksgiving 2002 holiday.
Bill Meyer didn't leave a legacy of nine novels or fifteen paintings hanging in LACMA or a cure for a killer disease, but what he did leave was a legacy to us, to Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles, a treasured legacy which is our memory of Bill's compassion, charity, and kindness.
Sometimes it's distressing to look upon a life reduced to a paragraph or so in the back pages of a newspaper. Obituaries don't give us enough space to reflect the meaning of the loss of one of our own. And Bill's sudden passing didn't give us enough time to say "good bye" or to say "thank you" for his many years of service.
So that's what we'd like to do here. Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles has benefited from Bill Meyer's contribution and from his example as a humanitarian. We celebrate and honor his life and the 30-plus years he helped people in need. Thank you, Bill. We'll miss you.
