 Administrative Assistant LAX

Location:  Los Angeles International Airport. Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Start Date: As soon as possible. Salary: $27,000/year.

Position Purpose:  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Volunteers, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for general clerical/administrative support duties for the Director of Volunteers and the resident on-duty Caseworkers, with indirect support to the Administrative Director.  The Admin Assistant performs complex and confidential administrative duties that require some independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature, especially those dealing with the traveling public.

Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree is preferred; a minimum of 2 years administrative support experience and experience working with volunteers; average typing skills; understanding of general office operations; good command of the English language; computer literacy, especially in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.  The candidate should be personable, dependable, and responsive to the needs of the many volunteers in our program, and should be able to work with persons of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as be sensitive to individuals with disabilities.

 Caseworker I

Location:  LAX Service Center (205 World Way)

Hours:  8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Benefits:  Salary: $28,008 Health Insurance (PPO/HMO),  Life Insurance, Tax-Deferred Annuity Program, & Pension Plan (upon qualification)  Paid annual & sick leave; parking; holidays.

Position Purpose:  Under the supervision of the Director of Social Services and the Director of Volunteers, the Caseworker provides direct services to clients in a manner to ensure maximum benefit to the clients.  The Caseworker performs intake, assessment, crisis intervention, & ongoing case management for client caseload (developing, implementing, & monitoring individual case plans) at LAX (home base), but on occasion may be asked to assist with case management in East Hollywood .  In this capacity, the Caseworker makes full use of community and agency resources, and performs the necessary documentation to provide agency accountability.  The Caseworker always works in a spirit of cooperation with staff, with members of the community, and with clients.  The Caseworker may be asked to attend meetings (representing TASLA) as the Agency’s liaison; workshops; or may be asked to do outreach.

Qualifications: Training & Experience:  Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field of human services, from an accredited institution together with at least two years experience with at-risk populations (specifically adult homeless populations) and sensitivity to culturally diverse groups. Ability to:  Respond appropriately to crisis and stressful situations; interview and assess needs of clients; develop individual case plans; communicate effectively; work well under pressure; learn specific systems quickly and thoroughly; interact effectively with a diverse population; identify and update community resources; operate standard office equipment; prepare written reports.
